Addiction, drug abuse receive education, outreach — in addition to enforcement — in DEA 360 program

community graphic(The Columbus Dispatch, February 17) DEA 360, a community outreach-based opioid prevention program, launched in Central Ohio last year. Unfortunately the nationwide COVID pandemic, initially hindered some of the outreach efforts.

But now, with many students returning to school, local DEA Community Outreach Specialist Wendie Jackson told The Dispatch that there will be more opportunities to promote programming like the Operation Prevention curriculum in the classroom.

DEA 360 has also designed a box for the COSI curbside program to educate people on how drugs affect the brain.

Event though the 360 program is only slated to run through the fall, officials hope that community prevention efforts will continue.
